1 Day in Sarajevo: Top things to do

Sarajevo is a very walkable city and it is easy and safe to get around. For 1 full day we recommend the following itinerary:

10:30am Take the Free Walking Tour by Neno and friends

Neno lived through the war in Sarajevo spending 80% of 2 years of his childhood in a basement. The personal touch and stories will give you a unique view of the city. http://www.sarajevowalkingtours.com/

Daily. Meet at Susan Sontag Square. Duration: 2h.

12:30 Lunch in the old town

After the tour, grab a traditional lunch in one of the countless restaurant options in the old town. We loved Ascinica Stari Grad

2:00 pm Visit Svrzo’s House

Walk a little up the hill to see this old house of a rich Sarajevan family. It is now a museum and gives you a glimpse into family life,  the culture and history. (Map)

3:30pm Stroll through the city and visit the city market hall

Walk along the main shopping street of Sarajevo and visit the old market hall. See, taste and buy local cheeses, meats and desserts. This is a great place to buy some souvenirs. www.trznice.ba

Cheese, meat and baclava heaven

7:00pm Enjoy dinner with a view at Kibe

After a full day of walking treat yourself to a traditional dinner: www.restaurantkibe.com

9:00pm Coffee & dessert

After you walk down the hill from Kibe, have a Bosnian coffee in the old town and enjoy some Baclava or Künafe. A good place for coffee and Baclava is the Baclava Shop (Map)
